Determinants of the severity of household food insecurity among the slums of Dhaka city, Bangladesh

According to the National Food Policy of Bangladesh, urban slum dwellers are most vulnerable group ensure food security. Their condition has not been materially improved over three decades. In our study, we present current insecurity scenario in slums Dhaka city using recent ‘Bangladesh – Urban Informal Settlements Baseline Survey’ dataset World Bank. Afterwards, analyse determinants household calorie gap by applying Inverse Hyperbolic Sine transformed Double Hurdle model. The organised represent pillars security (food availability, access, and utilisation) all have emerged as significant factors determining gap. From empirical results, highlight some vital gaps recommend broad areas interventions for betterment status among Dhaka.
